Built in the Swiss inspired village of Grindelwald 2015 this family home was designed and built to complement its Alpine setting. It is a beautiful modern take on the surrounding homes and pays homage to their design aesthetic.
Upon driving up to this home you will immediately appreciate its crisp clean appearance and the detailed angles of the roof-line of this two storey home. The double storey and intricate roof line added a layer of additional complexity to the build as any many of the angles can be seen both externally and internally and this low level of tolerance to variance would have noticeable consequences for the appearance of the home.
Once you turn the corner of the home you will then appreciate the true delight the owners will have whilst entertaining guests on the expansive deck area. This area is a combination of polished concrete and modwood timber decking blended perfectly together. Again it’s the detailed angels of the roof and verandah areas which truly sets this home apart.
Turning the next external corner of the home and you will be struck by the form of the garage which, is clearly not just another garage. Modwood battens have been laid horizontally in a crafted pattern of alternating sizes and precision finish. The use of laser light paneling behind these battens means that by by night the unassuming building becomes a lantern creating a perfect backdrop to this entertainer’s home.
Once inside the home you will be struck by the amazing attention to detail and perfection of the interior fitout. Be it the intersections of the polished concrete floors, extensive use of custom made joinery and seemless flow between the living and functional areas of the home.
The curved wall of the ensuite not only draws your eye with beautiful use of mosaics but the curve creates a sense of volume complimented by the soft colour scheme.
This is truly a detailed home that is testament to the good working relationship between the owners and the builder.
